Account Deletion

You can delete your meStory account and its associated personal data at any time, under the right to erasure set out in Article 17 GDPR. Deletion is available directly in the app and takes effect immediately and permanently. If you no longer have the app installed, or bought only on the website, you can also request it by email.

1. How to delete your account
In the app: Profile → Delete account. We first show you what will be lost, then ask you to sign in again (password, Google or Apple) — that step confirms it is really you making the request. Once confirmed, your account and data are removed immediately, with no email request and no waiting period. By email: send a message to privacy@getmestory.com, from the email address associated with your account, with the subject "Account Deletion". We use your account's email address to verify the requester's identity, as a safeguard against fraudulent requests.
2. What gets deleted
We permanently delete your profile, email address, encrypted password, choices made within stories, reading progress, and any other content directly tied to your account's identity.
3. What we retain and why
We retain, in anonymized form and disconnected from your identity, transaction and billing records, for the period required by Romanian accounting and tax law (up to 10 years), under the legal obligation set out in GDPR Art. 6(1)(c). These records can no longer be used to identify or contact you once the deletion request is completed.
4. Processing time
Deletion from the app is immediate — there is no waiting period. Requests sent by email are processed within a maximum of 30 days of receipt, with an email confirmation once completed.
